Roses are always such a classic go-to for me. But for some reason, I feel like people think they’re too common. Like, they’re too cliche or something. But they really inspire me. When I incorporate roses into the recipes I share here, they become my muse. They’re gorgeous. They’re tasty. And they smell absolutely amazing. Everything about them attracts me to them. They align with all of my senses.

If you’ve been following along with me for a while, you may have read that I’m following more of an anti-inflammatory diet. Which ultimately means that I need to cut back on sweets. Or more specifically, highly processed sweets. Reese’s and Snickers are my weakness. But I’ve made a compromise with myself. I can have sweets everyday as long as I make them from scratch.

Back to the roses. It’s interesting to me that roses are so well known for their romantic affiliation. Everybody thinks about roses on Valentine’s Day and birthdays, but why not more roses in food?

Stop and smell the roses, so why not eat them, too? From here on out, I’m eating more roses. Give me all those nutrient-rich, anti-inflammatory properties!

This rose apple crumble is more than just a gorgeous sensory dessert for me. It’s the first dessert I made in my new place. I’m coming out of a dark period and have been desperately waiting for the motivation to be inspired again. I’m beginning to see some glimmers of light and I’m gripping on and never letting it go. The desire to bake is always a key indicator when I’m in a mental health rut. So, thank you roses. And apples. 🙂
