GINGER HONEY MOCKTAIL

I’m really enjoying making mocktails this month. This ginger honey mocktail is definitely a keeper and I plan on making it regularly this year. That’s the best part of trying new things and making new goals. Sometimes things stick and become routine. And this is a good one.

A few weeks back I posted about a ginger oxymel I made. You can read it here. It’s delicious. And it’s a great way to take advantage of the properties of ginger. I’ve been trying to think of different ways people can add it into their lives. And this ginger honey mocktail is one of them.

Ginger is a great digestive aid. It also has wonderful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. I like to use it to curb or calm down cold and flu symptoms. Also, I’m on a new medication that has given me some new sensitivities to some foods that I eat a lot, like beans. All beans so far. I’m a vegetarian so this one has been a bit rough to accept. I keep trying to incorporate them back into my life, and I find that ginger really helps ease my stomach when I do.

This recipe brings in ginger three ways. Raw muddled ginger slices, ginger oxymel and ginger ale. Surprisingly, all three paired really well together and it wasn’t overbearing. That’s three opportunities to get the wonderful ginger properties.

I also can’t wait to get in on this during the summer. I love a good chilled ginger drink when it’s really hot out. This one is a keeper, for sure.
