The espresso martini. Three words that seem to never disappoint. I know some people who begin their nights out with one, and they swear by it. I’m going to show you how to make one at home. And you don’t even need an espresso machine! I use the pour over method to brew my coffee and it works like a charm every time.

Now I know that drip coffee and espresso are regarded differently. Espresso is thicker and sometimes preferred because it takes less of it to get caffeinated. But essentially the difference is the brewing method, but both come from the same bean. And in my opinion, there’s nothing wrong with substituting brewed coffee for espresso. This recipe does just that. If you’re staunch on drinking espresso over drip coffee, then use espresso. Most people don’t have an espresso machine at home so I simplified the recipe to make it easy for everyone.

I also want to mention that I made mine alcohol-free. If you’re looking for a traditional cocktail recipe, then throw in some vodka. The beauty about making your own is that you can customize to make yours exactly how you like it.

Let me tell you, this drink makes me feel extra fancy. I don’t know what it is but it makes me channel my inner Sex and the City or Gossip Girl character. I love how something as simple as a drink that’s dressed up fancy can completely revitalize a mood, or an evening, or a day. It’s the little things, right?
