I’m a big fan of alternative milks. I’ll use whole milk in baking recipes, but if I ever drink milk directly I would definitely choose an alternative milk. I made almond milk and cashew milk and they were both awesome so i figured why not keep going and see what else I can create? Today I’m going to show you how to make oat milk at home. It’s much easier than you think and it tastes so much fresher than anything store bought.

I used old fashioned oats to get the creamy oat flavor. I also added a bit of maple syrup and vanilla to add some sweetness, but those steps are optional. You could also use agave nectar and honey to sweeten as well.

I like to use my oat milk in coffee. Its creaminess cuts the acidity in the coffee, making it a perfect pair. It’s also great on its own and I especially love to dunk Oreos in it. It doesn’t upset my stomach like cow’s milk and that’s probably my most favorite part about the recipe. Have I mentioned its creamy delicious flavor? It’s truly delicious.
