COFFEE SUGAR SCRUB

Homemade sugar scrubs are so simple to make. You can find tons and tons of DIY recipes on the internet, and this post isn’t much different. I’ve been really into skincare lately. It’s forced me to become more mindful about what I put onto my skin and has sent me down a pretty long rabbit hole. This coffee sugar scrub is what I got out of it, and I’m happy to report that I’m pretty impressed.

I knew I wanted something that was exfoliating. I have very sensitive skin so exfoliating can be a challenge. Brown sugar and coffee can both be exfoliating, so those were definitely going to be my first two ingredients. Coconut oil is also a favorite. I used it as my exclusive face moisturizer for years. I also had some sweet almond oil around so I added that as well.

Coffee could tear skin so it’s important to get a fine ground. Like I mentioned I have very sensitive skin and using it hasn’t been a problem for me. It’s made my skin so much softer. I feel like all of the built up winter dryness is finally starting to go away. Thank goodness!

To extend the shelf life, I made my scrub in a small mason jar. I also store it under the bathroom sink to keep it away from light. I throw a little bit on and gently rub into my skin before I take a shower. It does make the shower a little slippery, so be mindful about that if you make your own.
