HOT TODDY MOCKTAIL

Dry January doesn’t have to be a month of drinking plain water and super sugary drinks. Don’t make it boring. Life is short and who says a month without drinking can’t be fun and exciting? I’ve got a good twist on a classic recipe and I’m excited to share it today! It’s a hot toddy mocktail!

I’m a huge fun of warm drinks and I feel they are vital for winter. I’m going to be having a lot of these this year, because why the heck not? Spiced by cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg, this drink combines freshly brewed tea, honey and lemon. If you’ve never had one, they’re delicious.

I like to use honeybush in my recipe because of natural sweetness. Plus, the honey aroma is amazing. Or a nice chai tea is nice since they usually have cinnamon, clove and nutmeg already in them.

I especially love a hot toddy when I’m starting to get sick. There’s nothing more soothing and instantly gratifying than a hot toddy with a sore throat. I actually remember my very first one. I was snowboarding for the first (and last!) time on Mt. Hood. After my first practice run on the beginner bunny slopes I fell so hard that my hat fell off my head. I gave up immediately after that and went to the lodge to drink for the rest of the day. It was great. Also, it was the same lodge parts of The Shining was filmed in, so pretty cool.

Anywho, I hope you enjoy the recipe. And if you’re partaking in dry January, I hope it’s going smoothly. Your liver will thank you.
