It hit me the other day that I haven’t seen flowers for a few months. I’m a cereal flower photo taker and after scrolling through the photos in my phone, the last photo of a flower I took was October 4th, that’s 4 months ago! Too long without flowers. Since it’s still winter and fresh blooms are less abundant, I decided to get my hands on some dried pressed flowers and make dried floral bookmarks.

I used these dried pressed flowers and my laminator. The laminator I have is pretty old but it’s still kicking, When it goes out I’m going to get this one here. I lined up the flowers in long strips so I can cut them out into bookmark bookmarks. Other than that I didn’t have any expectations or ideas about how these should look. I just went for it. It was a nice change.

This was a time to be more mindful. I’m trying to take every moment and embrace them as they come. The goal is to keep practicing mindfulness by doing things for no other reason other than they bring me joy. And hopefully the mindful moments will creep up in other places in my life without even trying. I’m conditioning myself to bring in more joy, and so far it’s working out pretty well.

These flowers were so intricate and beautiful. I loved studying each detail as I moved them around while pairing them up with each other. Then I encased them between two laminating sheets to preserve them indefinitely. It really got my creativity flowing.

It’s such a simple craft yet so rewarding. Let me know if you make these dried floral bookmarks. I’d love to see how yours turned out!
