I can’t think of anything better in the cold winter months than cozying up with a nice cup of hot toddy. They are simple, warming and delicious. Typically, hot toddies call for hot water, honey, whiskey, lemon and cinnamon. I love all of those things, but instead of hot water, I like to use hot tea water for that extra oompf. I like to experiment with different flavors, my all time favorite is chamomile or red rooibos. When I’m feeling under the weather, I use tea that has immune-boosting properties such as:
- Echinacea
- Throat Coat
- Nettle
- Ginger
- Elderberry
Tea is my best friend during the colder months! I have lived in New England now for 4 years and I still haven’t acclimated to these winters. Staying warm is a huge challenge. Hot toddies definitely help, and I’ll show you my take on this classic recipe.

Easy, affordable and quick, why not grab a book and make yourself one? These are also great for entertaining, sharing is caring!

Use one teabag per 12-ounces of water. For stronger flavor, use 2 teabags. Don’t forget to remove the bags after they have steeped.
I usually choose Maker’s Mark or 4 Roses in my hot toddies. They are crisp and go perfectly with hot tea!
